DESCRIPTION
Given the turbulent nature of the North Huntingdon Campus terrain, obstacles were plentiful throughout the site design process. But Redstone Highlands believed there was a market-rich niche in western Pennsylvania for our independent villa community concept that has proven so successful throughout Ohio for years. A pre-existing apartment/assisted living facility lies at the north end of the campus from which the villas flow and spiral southwest down the picturesque hillside. A central Clubhouse overlooking a pond, fountain, and new pavilion was necessary for community gatherings, marketing, and other events. Walk paths conveniently weave through the site with serene views of the natural forest land that remains unaltered... a remarkable and challenging canvas upon which to design.

Construction of the villa program that comprises the heart and soul of Redstone Colonial Estates is currently underway and offers residents a wide spectrum of customizable options and amenities. As with all communities we design, prospective residents receive direct face time with the principal architect to accurately convey specific needs and desires that must be built into each quality villa. Hip roof, gable, and dormer elevations are available as depicted below. Brick cladding and columns are intended to enrich the colonial aesthetics of the community, and garages can easily be configured to accomodate either 1 1/2 or 2 cars. Of the 60 units on site, dependant upon location within the terrain, residents can select from ranches with patios, ranches with elevated decks, or walk-out basement units. Extended porch and deluxe villas are available as well.

A facility placed in a central location of the campus was needed for community gatherings, meetings, and multiple other functions. This facility, the Clubhouse, includes a large community room, commercial kitchen with servery, dining and conference/activity rooms, administrative offices, a library, a fitness room, a resident association room, and a large wood deck overlooking a scenic pond with a dramatic fountain.
